Progress monitoring

As the enterprise deploys Data Quality profiling practices across teams, understanding the level of adoption of proposed standards, methodology and tools is an important success factor to drive improvements.

It helps measure progress, identify key challenges and implement relevant actions to continue improvements.

The following standardized assessment template is proposed to conduct the evaluation on the state of data profiling practices at a regular cadence.

  • Standards Adoption: ensures that a matrix categorizing different data profiling types has been reviewed and, if necessary, customized for application within the specific business domain.

  • Standards Adoption: assesses whether a matrix that outlines the requirements for data profiling has been reviewed and adapted to fit the business needs.

  • Data Profiling Requirements: checks whether datasets identified within the data inventory have been assigned specific data profiling requirements.

  • Data Profiling Execution: assesses if data profiling has been carried out on prioritized datasets in accordance with their assigned data profiling requirements.

  • Data Profiling Results, Detailed Profiling Results: ensures that the results of data profiling are collected and communicated effectively to Business Data Owners (BDO) and Data Stewards.

  • Data Profiling Results, Consolidated Profiling Results: consolidating data profiling results and effectively communicating them to the appropriate Data Owners and Stewards.
